Kent Harrison Arts Council (KHAC): History
The Kent Harrison Arts Council is a not for profit arts and cultural organization, nurturing and supporting local arts and culture in the Agassiz-Harrison region for over 45 years. The KHAC serves the communities of the Village of Harrison Hot Springs, District of Kent, Seabird Island and Sts'ailes. We strive to serve a wide demographic that includes the Seabird and Chehalis First Nations, a large retired population, and a thriving community of young families.
The KHAC operates out of the original Forestry Ranger Station, at 98 Rockwell Drive in Harrison Hot Springs. This municipally-owned facility is shared with the Harrison Festival Society. The Festival focuses on the performing arts and provides the Kent-Harrison area with a myriad of events throughout the year. Both organizations operate independently but alongside one another, sharing space at the Ranger Station Building.
The Ranger Station Art Gallery is the only public art gallery in the area, hosting monthly exhibitions. As well, the KHAC hosts a national artist's residency program and facilitates a number of community outreach programs complementing the Festival’s programming with both a visual arts and literary focus. The Artist in Residence program provides further outreach and cultural exchange to our community.
